A team of students from TDAJ and TDAS students attend the PECT Eco Awards at the Key theatre on 23rd May. The compassionate theme of the project was - How can we encourage students to have healthier snacks at school? The students showed incredible commitment and gave up their lunchtime to work on the project the day before the awards. On the day, they had to call on their character pillars again by being curious when conducting experiments to extract the DNA from a strawberry and learning about microplastics, and courageous, confident and courteous when presenting their project to lots of local businesses and the Mayor. The students' hard work paid off! We won the Milestone special award which came with a £200 gardening gift voucher along with the Students Choice Award.
Our Eco team will continue their project and are working towards making healthy snacks such as fruit and vegetables free for students. Students are asking for support from our catering team, fund-raising, growing their own, and approaching local supermarkets for donations. If you know of any local companies who would like to support our project, please get in touch with Ms Joiner KZJ@TDA.education
